Customer Challenge: The customer was looking for an automated lending solution. They had previously been using a completely manual process with judgmental decisioning. They also lacked efficient WAN (Wide Area Network) capability. Bureau information was being manually applied to applications. A portion of their underwriting was decentralized and handled at the branch level.

The bank's goals were specific:

  1. Add structure and objectivity to the lending process by incorporating decision matrices.
  2. Provide employees with front-end accessibility to central processing, from multiple branch locations with minimal bandwidth needs.
  3. Interface with existing doc prep system as well as integrate and fully automate the creation of documents for certain forms of lending.
  4. Allow for remote printing at all branches.
  5. Accommodate projected growth in consumer and small business lending.
  6. Store history and provide a way to mine data for future scorecard use.
  7. Permit customer credit application submission via the Internet.
  8. Capture data for booking file upload.
Description of X/Net Solution: This implementation of CrediSphere increases lending process efficiencies using X/Net's MetaSage® platform, its external services, and CrediSphere credit origination system to complete the credit origination process. CrediSphere, a highly scalable, universal lending platform, is built to accommodate all lending types on a single system.

The new system provides structure and consistency to lending practices by allowing branch employees to enter applications into a central CrediSphere system via the CrediSphere client. The system then pulls a credit bureau report, processes the application and quickly returns a decision back to the branch, where it is reviewed, approved and workflow is finished; greatly reducing loan turnaround time. "Simple documents" are populated and printed via CrediSphere or the loan data is exported to a legacy document system. Loan documents are printed at the branch, improving customer service.

One central CrediSphere database is used for all lending types. Application data is stored with the ability to mine data for future custom scorecard creation. All loans are processed on the CrediSphere system, ensuring that credit policies are applied in a consistent manner. Loan data is electronically captured for upload to a host system, reducing manual processing steps. Credit reports are pulled centrally and stored electronically.
